Blog Entry 2

This week I was able to work with 2 students at the same time on their math. The class, right now, is learning greater than or less than. This is a 1st grade class. The teacher informed me that these students that I worked with are low in reading and math and need that extra help. As I was working with them, I was able to see how they figure out the answer whether it be me having to hold my hands showing them or all of us counting to see which number is greater. I am happy to say that they did get the hang of it and were able to finish the rest of the worksheet by themselves.

The teacher I was observing and working with was so positive! She was always telling her students how smart and wonderful they were! I know that those compliments gave those students confidence in what they were doing! I absoloutely loved watching this teacher interact with her students. This teacher treated each child equally which relates to the segregation issues that we have been discussing. I think it's important as a teacher to have a set of rules written out and to enforce them each time.
